Pre-Minor Baseball

SAFETY FIRST!

PHILOSOPHY

Pre-Minor Baseball is the next step in instructional baseball and is designed to enhance the basic training of fundamentals. Pre-Minor baseball is for players league age 7 and 8.

RULE AND REGULATION EXCEPTIONS

The playing rules will be in accordance with the 2003 National Little League Official Regulations and Playing Rules Handbook. Exceptions to the rules, amended by the Frontier Little League Board of Directors are as follows:

1)   There can be 2 adult base coaches on the field.  See Rule 4.05(1)

2)   The defensive team is permitted 2 coaches on the field; one in the outfield and one behind the catcher.

3)   Adults (offensive team manager or coach) will pitch in the first half of the season.  The players will be taught to pitch during the season at practices.

4)   Mechanical (non-electric) pitching machines may be used instead of coach pitch.

5)   In the second half of the season, players may begin to pitch.  When players are pitching, the batter will get four pitches, and then will revert to coach pitch.  There will be no strikes called on swings against these first 4 pitches when a player is pitching. (Strikes not swung at will be called.) The purpose is to encourage the players to hit the ball rather than to wait for the coach to avoid being struck out.

6)   Walks are not permitted.

7)   No player will pitch more than 2 innings in a game.

8)   The batting order will be the entire roster.

9)   Each half inning will end after 6 runs or 3 outs.

10) Ten players may play on defense.  The tenth player must play in the outfield.

11) Advancing on a passed ball is permitted except for home base.  No runner may advance from third base to home on a passed ball or wild pitch.  Once a pitch passes the catcher or is caught by the catcher, the runner on third base must remain on third until the next pitch unless a defensive play is made against a runner.

12) There are no game results recorded to determine a winner/loser of scheduled games.

13) The Pre-Minor Division will not have an end of season tournament.

14) Catcher must wear a helmet at all times.
